Guide
How to switch a dynasty league to a new platform
Switching fantasy football platforms feels risky. You worry about league mates complaining, losing data, or the new platform being worse. This guide walks through the process step by step and addresses the real concerns commissioners face.
You do not have to rebuild your existing league by hand
League Tycoon imports existing leagues directly. Sleeper, ESPN, CBS, MyFantasyLeague, and Fantrax are supported, with a guided manual path for anywhere else. The import brings over your rosters, league settings and scoring, future draft picks, team logos, contracts where the source has them, and up to 20 seasons of league history. Past seasons come back as real seasons you can browse week by week, with standings, matchup lineups, playoff brackets, and final standings.
Start here. Running the import first turns the whole conversation with your league from an abstract proposal into something they can open and look at, with their own roster and their own league's champions already in it.
How league import worksTalk to your league first
Most commissioners know which problems are driving them to look at new platforms. Maybe contract tracking lives in a spreadsheet. Maybe the app crashes every Sunday. Whatever it is, that's the conversation to have with your league mates.
Drop a link to the League Tycoon app or web experience in the group chat and let people poke around. That tends to answer more questions than a pitch would. If you're switching during the offseason, there's no rush and everyone has time to get comfortable before the next season starts.
Step-by-step migration
1. Import your existing league
Open Tools, choose Import League, pick your current platform, and paste a link to your league. Choose standard dynasty or contract dynasty, and choose how many past seasons to bring over, up to 20. If your platform is not supported, the guided manual path builds the league shell and hands you a setup checklist.
2. Review the preview before anything is created
Every import stages a preview first. You see the teams, roster counts, how many players matched, a summary of the settings being mapped, anything that will not carry over, and which teams would land over the salary cap. Nothing exists until you approve it.
3. Work the post-import checklist
Your league opens with a list of anything worth a human decision: unmatched players, scoring rules to confirm, roster and playoff and waiver settings to review, contract rules on contract leagues, and Hall of Fame entries to adjust. Every item deep links to the screen that resolves it.
4. Invite league mates
Share the league link with your league. Each league mate claims their own team from a list, so you're not assigning everyone by hand. They see their own roster, their own team logo, and their league's past champions immediately.
5. Run a test period
Before the season starts, let everyone explore the platform. Make a few test trades or waiver claims. Let people get comfortable with the interface. Answer questions as they come up.
6. Go live
Once everyone is set up and comfortable, you're running on League Tycoon. Contracts, cap tracking, trades, drafts, and communication are all in one place.
Common fears (and reality)
"My league mates will hate learning a new platform"
League Tycoon's interface is modern and intuitive. Most users report that it's easier to navigate than older platforms, especially on mobile. The learning curve is typically a few minutes, not a few weeks.
"We'll lose all our league history"
This is the number one reason leagues stay on a platform they've outgrown, and it's the one the import was built to kill. League Tycoon brings up to 20 past seasons across and rebuilds them as real, browsable seasons: standings, week-by-week matchups with the lineups each team actually started, playoff brackets, and final standings. The same import fills your Hall of Fame with all-time standings, head-to-head records split between regular season and playoffs, trophies for past champions, and all-time high scores. And because franchises are matched by owner rather than by name, a team that's had four different names over eight years still keeps one continuous record.
"Setting up will take forever"
The import does most of it. Rosters, settings, scoring, future draft picks, team logos, and contracts where the source platform has them all come across in one pass. What's left is a checklist of things worth a human decision, and each item links straight to the screen that resolves it.
"What if the platform has problems?"
League Tycoon is actively maintained and regularly updated. Like any platform, occasional issues can occur, but the product is committed to reliability and responsiveness.
"I'll be blamed if people don't like it"
If you talk to your league first and make the decision together, it's a shared one. And if the platform genuinely solves the problems your old one had, people adjust quickly.
